Week 3 – Growers Continue with Stiff (and Itchy) Upper Lips

Mr Geoduck - Week 3
Mr. Geoduck

Do you love 826 Seattle? Do you think kids are the future? Do you understand the importance of writing and learning? Do you believe in do-goodery?

If you do, and you want to support 826 Seattle but don't know any of the mustache farmers listed below, donate to Mr. Geoduck's mustache!

Mr. Geoduck is the cantankerous publishing magnate who owns Justa Geoduck Publishing Co. and leads school kids on the wild Mr. Geoduck Publishing Fieldtrip. He is grumpy and ill tempered, but his heart is in the right place. A $20 donation sure would lift his spirts!

It was another successful week for mustache farmers! We held our very first give-away this week, and while a hearty $1,000 pledge (woohoo!) had Team Brotherton-Cockburn in the lead for gifts and pledges, we are pragmatic folks at 826 Seattle; the new "Wholphin" DVD, courtesy of Alex Allred, went to the cash-in-hand leader, Blaire Notrica! Congrats, and good work, Blaire!

This week, regular photographer Ben Blum was otherwise indisposed and sent his sister Beth in his stead. She brought a cool camera and a freakin' awesome space themed backdrop. Ben, your job as Mustache Documentarian may be in jeopardy!

In other people-named-Ben news, brave farmer Ben Busby-Collins is also a professional soap maker and proprietor of Ballard Organics - Washington's first and only certified organic soap manufacturer. On Saturday, September 15th from 10-6, Ballard Organics is celebrating the opening of their very first store! Located under Cedars in the U-District at 50th and Brooklyn, all mustache fans are invited to pay them a visit and check out their 100% vegan, 100% spectacular collection of soaps and lotions. Check out www.ballardorganics.com for more information.

Hurray for mustache progress! Remember – the 2nd Annual Mustache-A-Thon ends on October 6th. That means only THREE MORE WEEKS to make donations to your favorite mustache farmer. We won’t mind a speck if you donate more than once.

Thanks to the support of mustache fans the world ‘round, we have just passed the $5000 mark. Thank you one and all!
