2007 Mustache-A-Thon - Week 1 (and counting)

Week 1 - Bare upper lips? Naaaa - they're just getting warmed up!

Mr Geoduck - Week 1
Mr. Geoduck

Do you love 826 Seattle? Do you think kids are the future? Do you understand the importance of writing and learning? Do you believe in do-goodery?

If you do, and you want to support 826 Seattle but don’t know any of the mustache farmers listed below, donate to Mr. Geoduck’s mustache!

Mr. Geoduck is the cantankerous publishing magnate who owns Justa Geoduck Publishing Co. and leads school kids on the wild Mr. Geoduck Publishing fieldtrip. He is grumpy and ill tempered, but his heart is in the right place. A $20 donation sure would lift his spirits!

Josh at Metroblogging Seattle recently wrote about the 2007 Mustache-A-Thon! Read the blog HERE. Thank you Josh!

Some ‘staches were indistinguishable from the rest of the 5 o’clock shadows surrounding them, some where already loud and proud – regardless, all happily reported for mustache weigh-in duty. Highlights included onion rings, free Full Sail Amber Ale (thank you, Pig ‘n Whistle and Full Sail!), pool, and trying to remember the name of that one Steve Martin book (which bookshelf-checking revealed to be The Pleasure of My Company, not The Object of My Affection, which was as close as we came).

The most surprising moment was when some anonymous fellow came in to the Pig with an AMAZING brunette version of the mighty Hulk Hogan chin-framer, complete with aviator sunglasses. Several of us stared at him in awe – perhaps the first time a man with that style of mustache was the one creeped out in a bar, rather than the other way around.

Pledges and cash money were also collected, with the prize for Most Adorable and Inspirational Money Brought In going to follicle farmer Lucas, who got $1.73 from a toddler (!).

Keep up the great growing!
